Overview

 

Opportunity to support a dynamic sales team and learn about various aspects of print and digital advertising sales. Intern, Advertising Sales will provide administrative support to the advertising sales operations of the Commercial Sales department.  This position will coordinate print and digital advertising for various journals and support the work of Account Executive and/or Advertising Specialist. Working closely with sales reps, Intern will focus on sales support, administrative tasks, providing customer service to current advertising customers, proof artwork and help to ensure ads run without mistakes. 

 

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Commercial Sales Supervisor and Advertising Specialist, Intern will assist Advertising Specialist with daily sales tasks and duties, including:
    • Respond to inbound customer inquiries by e-mail or phone
    • Review and process advertising contracts and orders
    • Utilize phone and email to collect artwork from customers
    • Communicate with society partners and editors to obtain approval on ads
    • Assist with production process and monitor issue layouts
    • Monitor progress of digital advertising campaigns
    • Fulfill request for sample issues and media kits in a timely manner
    • Assist Advertising Specialist with other customer related needs as they arise
    • Communicate with other departments, including but not limited to production and editorial
    • Assist with invoicing and customer billing
  • Miscellaneous projects to support Commercial Sales Department
    • Including but not limited to: assistance with creation of sales collateral or media kits, maintaining comp subscription lists, subscribing advertisers and prospects to appropriate e-newsletter/subscription lists

Qualifications & Education

  • Intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Suite of product
  • Working experience with CRM applications preferred
  • Strong interest in sales and marketing processes
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Ability to work independently and manage own time effectively
  • Ability to work in a highly energized team and comfortable with customer-facing and business communication

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Operation of desktop computer with ability to sit and work at it for extended periods of time
  • Ability to ignore ambient noise, while carrying on conversations with customers.
