This role is in Production Operations and focuses on the vendor management needs of SAGE Publishing inclusive of negotiations, reviews, and coordination of services. This role maintains an overview of work requests from the Global Digital Production department and allocates resources, both internally and externally, for animation and video projects (both production and post-production) and other digital media projects. This position is responsible for the selection and monitoring of freelancers and external production vendors. The post requires project management experience, with the ability to organize, implement, and coordinate multiple video shoots and projects that are requested by the Global Digital Production department.


Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Brief and assess video, audio, and animation production vendors, ensuring that budgets, deadlines, and SAGE’s quality standards are adhered to
  • Source and schedule video crews as needed by the GDP Producers
  • Compose detailed purchase orders and contracts for all outsourcing
  • Oversee project outlines, schedules, and budgets for vendors, working with the GDP Project Manager on schedules
  • Manage the Production Operations vendor lists for all media production needs, overseeing the updating and tracking of costs and quality of work
  • Manage vendors to ensure consistency, cost effectiveness, and style requirements are met
  • Alert interested parties about problems and implement solutions for issues with schedules, workload, and quality of vendors
  • Investigate technology companies and services that could offer new and more efficient workflows for ongoing projects, analysing their costs, benefits, and services, and keeping documentation organized and up to date
  • Evaluate key conferences or training for individuals in the Production Operations Team to continue their services with the appropriate level of training
  • Partner with Production Operations in all aspects to maintain an efficient department by sharing feedback, addressing concerns, and contributing in department meetings

Qualifications & Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Two years experience working with video and video-related content, preferably in the publishing industry
  • Two years experience managing the workflow of vendors and freelancers
  • Superior project management skills while meeting multiple deadlines 
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft skills
