Overview

 

As Editorial Assistant, Video you will work within the Video Editorial team to support activities in securing streaming video content for video collections intended for the academic library market. Your primary responsibility will be to support the Acquisitions Editor on the development of SAGE Research Methods Video content, but you will also work on other video projects outside of this area too.

 

Using a combination of effective organizational, administrative, interpersonal-communication, research and analysis skills, you will be able to work expertly with a high volume of diverse tasks in an exciting and fast-paced area of the business, supporting the video commissioning process in all aspects of the role. You will also work collaboratively with other members of the SAGE Video team across departments and offices, Editorial Advisory Board members as well as other external clients and academics to ensure editorial content and workflows are kept on track and that systems are up-to-date.


This position is part of the global Video Editorial team at SAGE and based in our Washington DC office. It will report into colleagues in offices in other parts of the world.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic part of the business to help increase SAGE’s video product portfolio for its library customers. 

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

 

The job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Video Acquisition Support:

  • Providing support for Acquisitions Editors in preparation of commissioning briefs for contributors or vendors as needed to secure new video content
  • Assist Acquisitions Editors with video editorial activities (e.g. contributor research, outreach, providing necessary Audio/Visual release forms to contributors, and reviewing video content)
  • Securing necessary documents and processing all payments for video contributors, Editorial Board members, etc.
  • Processing, saving and organizing all video documents (e.g. Audio/Visual releases, Editorial Board contracts, licensing contracts) as needed
  • Regular correspondence with author, editor and society networks as required
  • Reviewing and proofreading video outlines and interview scripts as required

Metadata Management and Content Tracking:

  • Working with content providers, authors and Video Editorial colleagues to secure and ensure accuracy of metadata details for each video asset
  • Processing video metadata within internal systems to prepare video products for launch
  • Collaborating with Video Editorial and Global Digital Production members to ensure proper handover/ingestion of video metadata
  • Maintaining editorial content tracking databases and other internal record-keeping systems

Administrative Support for Video Editorial, including but not limited to:

  • Maintaining editorial prospects documents and Editorial Advisory Board documents
  • Maintaining database of SAGE Video use across the business
  • Assisting on Video Editorial market research activities
  • Working with internal Video Editorial and other Video team members to aggregate and track video asset information
  • Taking minutes of key meetings involving Video Editorial colleagues

Qualifications & Education

 

  • A university/college graduate; or able to demonstrate relevant experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Skype
