As Media Content Editor you will work with the other colleagues in the Video and Library Teams, as well as wider College Editorial teams to ensure that the SAGE Video product is meeting the pedagogical, learning and research needs of its end users in all its forms. A very important role in the Video Editorial group, this position is designed to inform the front-end design, type, appearance, scheduling for publication and market focus of its streaming video content and products.


Using a mixture of effective relationship management, organizational and administrative skills you will be someone able to work expertly and quickly with a high volume of diverse tasks in an exciting and fast-paced area of the business. Your role will involve collaboratively working with other members of the SAGE Video team, other departments at SAGE as well as external clients and academics to ensure our products are competitive and meeting end-user needs for our library customers and patrons.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Developing and passing on to Video Editorial colleagues deep knowledge of the needs of each product’s key course needs through ongoing course research (i.e. developing a good understanding of learning outcomes in particular subject areas)
  • Assisting the Video team’s developing knowledge of the competitive landscape in streaming video to help inform commissioning strategies
  • Working collaboratively with others, you will assist Video Editorial colleagues in ensuring that our video content is developed and passed over to Digital Production in time for launch
  • Taking the lead on some content updates for our launched collections, as well as some content development  and support on forthcoming collection launches, with support from wider Video Editorial colleagues
  • Engaging in Video Editorial activities in in a number of other ways, including but not limited to working on film scripts, developing some on-boarding materials for new contributors, contributor outreach and attending shoots to support filming

Qualifications & Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience required
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
  • A minimum of 2 years publishing experience within an academic, educational or video publishing company, preferably with some knowledge of the higher education market
  • Online, multimedia, or video learning / work experience would be of interest, but is not required
  • Excellent project management skills and attention to detail
  • Market research experience desirable, but not required
  • Ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to learn new work processes, systems and skills quickly
  • Experience and proven ability to collaborating with internal teams as well as external clients (i.e. authors or vendors)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Skype and Google applications
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally
