  • Overview

    The LMS Product Specialist plays a key role in supporting and advancing the development of various digital products that integrate with and compliment higher education Learning Management Systems (LMS). The person in this position is one of SAGE's LMS experts, consulting and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders in the coordination, execution, testing, communication, and delivery of LMS-based digital products and content. The person in this role will have a strong understanding of instructional design principles and will collaborate with instructional designers depending on project needs.

    Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

    Product Development

    • Consult on product integration with Learning Management Systems, including use of LTI for single sign-on and grade sync.
    • Research and develop reports on feature and functionality roadmaps for Blackboard, D2L, Moodle, Canvas.
    • Provide strategic recommendations, in consultation with product management team, around LMS pilots/experiments and potential partnership opportunities.
    • Conduct competitive benchmarking and research projects on topics in the ed tech and higher education space such as competency-based learning, social/gaming features, adaptive, online courseware, ecommerce.
    • Consult on FDOC materials for digital products.
    • Consult on and/or create video demos of College digital products.

    Outreach/Sales & Marketing Support:

    •Provide support to the internal marketing stakeholders with review of sales tools, product descriptions, and walk-throughs or trainings of LMS-based digital products

    •Host and lead information sessions for key stakeholders regarding new LMS-based technologies and features as related to SAGE products

    •Serve as resource person for SAGE customer support to assist in answering questions about digital products and their LMS integration

    •Develop internal training documentation and customer-facing support documentation, including video walkthroughs and how-to resources

    Qualifications & Education


    •Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

    Required Experience:

    •Two years of work experience with at least 1 Learning Management System (LMS) -- BlackBoard, Moodle, D2L, Canvas. Knowledge of and experience with Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) and assessment metadata standards.

    •Microsoft Office Proficiency: Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint

    •Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments to achieve goals and deadlines

    •Ability to work effectively within deadlines, and to organize and direct milestone schedules

    •Project Management experience



    •Experience in 2 or more Learning Management Systems (LMSs)

    •Experience with adaptive learning and assessment platforms

    •Proficiency in Captivate, Camtasia, and video editing tools

    •Ability to coordinate and supervise others
