The role of the Marketing Communications Assistant is to implement and execute marketing programs, including email and non-direct mail campaigns, developed by the Marketing Managers. The Marketing Communications Assistant is expected to ensure that campaigns are completed accurately and on time, liaising and working closely with our internal Marketing Services and Design departments. Experience with marketing including print, online, and social media components is preferred. This job requires the ability to juggle multiple tasks and work effectively with a variety of stakeholders, adapting communication style for optimal results


Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Implement email campaigns in collaboration with Journals Marketing Managers to increase submissions and usage of individual journal titles
  • Coordinate, prepare and submit creative briefs to design department for all marketing communications materials (banner ads, print ads, html campaigns, etc.)
  • Implement online marketing campaigns utilizing Web-based channels, including social media
  • Write engaging content for campaigns that support business objectives and adhere to established brand guidelines and voice
  • Utilize all direct marketing channels to ensure maximum campaign effectiveness (email, advertising, social media, banner ads, etc)
  • Proactively analyze and share campaign metrics and findings with Marketing Managers; recommend changes to increase the effectiveness of campaigns
  • Identify and run tests to validate effectiveness of new approaches
  • Create social media content in conjunction with email campaigns and coordinate scheduling (as needed)
  • Coordinate, prepare, and submit non-direct mail (flyers, banner ads, print ads, brochures, etc.) to the Design department, in collaboration with Marketing Managers
  • Audit and correct proofs during production and/or printing process
  • Facilitate “rush” non-direct mail as required
  • Provide ongoing status of campaign schedule to Marketing Managers and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate materials for conferences, in collaboration with Marketing Managers (as needed)
  • Learn marketing systems to track tasks, update web copy, pull reports, upload data
  • Work and communicate effectively with colleagues in all departments throughout the company worldwide
  • Contribute innovative ideas to achieving business objectives and complete assigned departmental projects
  • Carry out other marketing activities as required to support the goals of the Marketing Department

Qualifications & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Marketing, administrative, intern, or related job experience
  • Strong proofreading skills
  • Experience in online marketing or advertising preferred
  • Experience with social media marketing preferred
  • Experience writing or modifying HTML preferred
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior planning and organizational skills
  • Proven project/product management experience preferred
