  • Overview

    Under the supervision of the US Design Director, the Associate Graphic Designer is responsible for graphic design of marketing material, conference support material, OBC’s (Outside Back Covers), book covers, image retouching, and other design projects, as necessary. 


    The Associate Graphic Designer exhibits a college-graduate level of design skill and technical knowledge, the ability to prioritize between multiple projects, and possesses good verbal and written communication skills. 

    Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

    • Graphic design of marketing materials for all SAGE US businesses
    • Graphic design of conference support materials for all SAGE US businesses
    • Graphic design of OBC’s (Outside Back Covers) as necessary.
    • Graphic design of other projects, as necessary.
    • Post final files to FTP site or other appropriate delivery method. 
    • Archive final files according to department procedures.
    • Other activities, as needed, to achieve company and departmental goals.

    Qualifications & Education

    • Training in graphic design and relevant computer applications, four-year college degree preferred.
    • 2 years of graphic art/design experience in a fast-paced marketing or product development setting, or equivalent level of skills.
    • Ability to follow schedules and prioritize own work as necessary to achieve goals.
    • Ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal) with colleagues, vendors, and freelancers.
    • Skilled in modern versions of graphic design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud) on Mac or Windows platforms.
    • Knowledge of and the ability to communicate using graphic design vocabulary.
    • Understanding of current trends in design, and ability to apply current concepts to current department projects.
    • Ability to communicate concepts and ideas with members of Marketing teams
    • Consistent demonstration of ability to stay on schedule, providing options to keep press date, if mid-project schedule slips.
    • Creation of error-free print-ready files (determined by pre-flight).
    • Knowledge of Mac, Windows, and other appropriate operating systems.
    • Knowledge of web-related technologies would be an added advantage.
