This position is open to current college students who are interested in pursuing a career in publishing. The intern will learn about publishing in general and also gain hands on experience in the Library Editorial department. Work between 20-25 hours per week.
Working in Library Editorial in the DC office primarily on the SAGE Business Cases library collection. Would be doing author research for us, searching for potential academic authors through university/college websites, Google Scholar, etc. We’d take that information and solicit them to write for us. Our platform is global so we work with authors all over the world, so the research would be global. Would also help with mapping courses to cases when we get leads from sales and marketing (e.g., a sales rep is presenting at Carnegie Mellon next week, help find their strengths and recommend cases that would be relevant to their students and faculty). The other task would be processing new cases as they come in from our university partners. Review them and assign relevant metadata and submit to production. Sometimes this involves taking content from the case and creating abstracts, which requires some rewriting and finessing. Would also assist in other library editorial platforms, such as SAGE Stats and Data Planet. Could also work on pairing cases with content in our other library products. Also the chance to write some marketing and/or blog type content relating to the platform.
