  • Overview

    The Executive Marketing Manager will develop and implement creative marketing and sales strategies for the company’s Education products and services.  This individual will work closely with the Sales and Editorial teams to successfully lead the development of new ideas and marketing strategies to improve sales materials, direct marketing campaigns, integrated sales and marketing strategies and sales presentations. Marketing experience with K12 Professional Development and/or publishing is required.

    Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

    • Market various professional development services and products to the K-12 audience, while collaborating with other marketing managers to develop strategies for cross-promotion of various product lines
    • Develop strong content-focused marketing campaigns for product lines and channels
    • Plan/develop/implement effective marketing programs on schedule and within budget for assigned programs and product lines
    • Continuously monitor the competition for product lines and train the sales team on the company’s competitive advantage
    • Be adept at using a variety of marketing strategies including email campaigns, direct mail, web promotion, social media, PR and lead generation campaigns
    • Analyze marketing response and data in order to make adjustments to strategies
    • Provide relative input to editorial team on product content, market placement, pricing, projections, proposed titles, and other Professional Development products
    • Monitor market intelligence and collaborate with other teams on new product development
    • Maximize sales by utilizing all possible sales and marketing channels
    • Support strategic relationships with Associations and authors
    • Advise Editorial on new product development
    • Continually develop product, market, and competitor knowledge through district visits, conventions, editorial, author, and customer communication
    • Assist with strategic planning and budgeting
    • Collaborate with other teams to plan sales meetings and launch strategies
    • Budget and forecast sales of assigned products and expenses on an annual and monthly basis
    • Monitor sales and adjust marketing efforts to maximize profitability
    • Take into account key product information, market information, and the competitive landscape, to create a schedule of marketing activities that will achieve sales goals
    • Work in conjunction with the Sales Director to ensure the sales team is equipped with all the necessary strategic sales tools
    • Plan product and market training for sales reps in assigned disciplines including development and maintenance of strategic sales tools
    • Assist with lead generation, bundling strategies and providing effective sales direction
    • Independently develop and implement marketing plans by collaborating with Sales, editorial and Marketing teams
    • Work closely with various international publishing divisions in Europe and Asia to cross market products as needed
    • Relay market needs, feedback, suggested improvements and timing requirements to Editorial and Production teams
    • Plan, schedule and manage booth exhibits for 2-3 conventions a year
    • Plan strategies to maximize booth traffic via promotions and advertising
    • Interact professionally with authors, associations and customers

    Qualifications & Education

    • BA/BS degree required
    • Must have 5+Years of educational publishing experience
    • Email and online marketing experience preferred
    • Experience with launch and marketing of online products is strongly preferred
    • Adept at Microsoft Office programs Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Professional written and verbal communication skills
    • Proven project management and presentation skills
    • Experience effectively implementing campaigns across all of the promotional mixes
    • Superior planning and organizational skills
