  • Overview

    The Marketing Specialist will support the goals of the Corwin E-Learning Marketing department in the development and implementation of marketing plans and programs, within specified budget and deadlines. The Marketing Specialist will assist and, in some cases, serve as the lead and execute marketing efforts such as email campaigns, print and digital advertisements, collateral, brochures, webinars, sales support needs, and the website with minimal direction. Because this position will be supporting the E-learning efforts at Corwin, there is an emphasis on strong digital marketing experience including SEO, SEM, remarketing, analytics, A/B testing, and social media marketing. The position requires a minimum 3 years marketing or other relevant job experience. This job requires excellent organization and planning skills, the ability to prioritize between multiple tasks, a strong proficiency in written and verbal communication, and an aptitude for attention to detail.

    Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

     Development and Implementation of Marketing Plans

    • Working with the Marketing Director, implement strategic multi-channel sales and marketing plans as directed in a timely and responsive manner.
    • Ensure strong implementation of marketing plans for E-Learning Products under the guidance of the Director of Marketing.
    • Communicate with and support authors/SMEs with flyers, scheduling calls, social media, etc. on an as needed basis.
    • Track spending and work within budget at all times.
    • Support market research efforts to identify key associations, publications, ad opportunities, etc. to support marketing planning.
    • Stay abreast of marketing and industry trends and present new and creative ideas to help support product and marketing goals.
    • Collaborate and determine how to weave effective digital advertising into product launches and marketing campaigns.

    Campaign, Website, and Social Media

    • Implement numerous traditional marketing activities, as assigned, including: ads, email campaigns, social media campaigns, direct mail and other marketing activities with minimal guidance.
    • Under the guidance of the Marketing Director, manage digital advertising including: keywords, targeting, remarketing, conversion tracking, and more.
    • Track and report on campaign successes
    • Support SEO and SEM efforts on our web site and manage our Google Analytics account to determine effectiveness.
    • Track and report on campaign successes including sending out regular reports on results.
    • Facilitate execution, updates, and creation on our website(s) and landing/promotional pages.
    • Write headlines and short form copy for campaigns as needed.
    • Manage Corwin’s E-learning social media accounts and ensure our social media initiatives are carried out appropriately.


    Product and Market Knowledge

    • Continually develop product, market, and competitor knowledge through conventions, editorial, author, and customer communication.
    • Conduct market research to identify key associations, publications, ad opportunities, etc. to support marketing planning.
    • Serve as a lead on departmental projects, such as serving as liaison with other departments on key initiatives.
    • Engage in other market research/market development activities to support product innovation, market understanding, and target audience messaging and USPs.


    Conference Planning and Attendance

    • Support conference planning activities such as development of marketing message, creation of booth signage, pre- and post-conference promotions, on-site conference giveaways and promotional items, etc.
    • Travel to conventions on behalf of Corwin, act as Booth Manager, and plan booth schedule as needed.
    • Conduct effective and professional sales conversations on key Corwin products, programs, and initiatives.
    • Assist with planning and executing conference attendance, including setup and teardown, in-booth collateral and other materials, special events both in and outside of the exhibit hall, etc.


    Customer/Author Relations

    • Act as representative of the company when dealing with potential or existing customers, authors and SMEs.
    • When communicating with customers and authors, take appropriate actions to ensure they have a positive experience with, and image of, the company.
    • Manage the Info inbox and take care of all emails and requests.

    Qualifications & Education

    • Bachelor’s degree required in Marketing or a related field
    • 3 years marketing, sales, or related job experience
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
    • Curious and analytical – you like to solve problems and get the job done
    • Innovative with keen insight into messaging, targeting, testing, remarketing and implementation of PPC ads
    • Collaborative and ready to work across departments globally to achieve results
    • Abreast of current digital marketing trends including SEO, inbound lead generation, remarketing, targeting, analytics, A/B testing, and social advertising
    • Working knowledge of digital advertising technology, including: keywords, targeting, remarketing, conversion tracking, and more.
    • Working knowledge of Google Analytics and advertising metrics with the ability to analyse and use data effectively
    • Experience using SEO tools such as Moz
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects while balancing long term assignments against daily responsibilities
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Superior planning and organizational skills
    • Ability to travel to at least 4-6 events and conferences per year
