    We are recruiting a Senior Marketing Manager to develop and implement effective marketing strategies for new academic library technologies portfolio designed to support learning and research. This key role within Library Marketing will take ownership of driving market launches and expansions, defining SAGE’s unique value proposition and competitive advantage. Working with partners across the global organization, the Senior Marketing Manager will lead on market positioning and building the brand as well as driving sales, usage, and customer retention. The Senior Marketing Manager will stay abreast of market and library technology trends, working in a dynamic part of the business responsible for marketing of SAGE’s growing digital products and library technologies to a wide range of global customers to include students and researchers. 



    SAGE Publishing has long served as a strategic partner to academic libraries, offering dynamic resources to students and researchers that build bridges to knowledge. We are rapidly expanding our product portfolio to offer technologies for learning and research that support the academic library and wider institution. The goal? To drive access to library resources with workflow solutions that reach students and researchers where they are. This is an exciting area of growth for SAGE and we are looking for a strong Senior Marketing Manager to develop a highly-effective marketing strategy to launch this new portfolio as well as individual products. This is an opportunity to join a creative and fast-paced global Marketing team focused on delivering results as an integral part of SAGE Publishing.

    Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

    The job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Your focus will be two-fold: building SAGE’s profile in this space as well as launching a growing library technologies product portfolio
    • Develop and execute highly innovative marketing strategies that raise awareness, generate leads, and address the needs of customers
    • Build market intelligence in partnership with Market Research Analyst to inform sales and marketing strategy: Understanding the market, library budgets and decision makers, segmenting the market, and the competitive landscape
    • Produce sales enablement tools and training to support the success of the international sales team, including building a narrative, pitch and demo for digital products as well as creating compelling content for presentations
    • Develop, manage, and optimize the effectiveness of the marketing planning and budgeting to grow revenue and profitability
    • Partner with stakeholders to develop business models and pricing for growing product offering

    • Recommend and oversee promotions budget to support marketing plans
    • Ensure all marketing communications are delivered to a high quality standard and that processes between Marketing, Sales, and Product Management are optimized
    • Conference planning/attendance, including regular sales meetings

    Qualifications & Education

    Required experience:


    Bachelor’s degree or higher required
    6+ years marketing experience required

    4 years experience understanding the academic library market required

    Experience leading or driving to launch new products and services required


    Preferred experience:

    Experience in marketing to academic libraries preferred
    Experience in library technologies preferred
    Strategic thinker who has experience developing strategic marketing plans
    Excellent team player
    A problem solving approach
    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Superior planning and organizational skills
    Proven project management experience preferred
