  • Overview

    This position is responsible for working directly with the Production Operations team to produce and ensure the quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness of all SAGE US and globally sourced products. Products include print, video, and other digital media products for Corwin, CQ Press, and SAGE books, journals, marketing, and editorial services. This position requires data entry, reporting, use of Excel, and project management.

    Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

    The scope of this position is to:

     

    1. Support Production Operations in all aspects to maintain an efficient department by sharing feedback, addressing concerns and contributing in department meetings
    1. Communicate via email, in person or on the phone effectively with in-house staff and vendors
    1. Work with external vendors on the schedules of outsourced print, video, and digital media products; resolve problems that could either delay publication or affect the quality of the final product
    1. Request and provide cost estimates for all printed material or digital services with formal RFP
    2. Work closely with Production, Marketing, Global Digital Projects, and Global Design to ensure detailed purchase orders are correct before sending to vendors
    1. Traffic queries, update feedback logs, and route proof approvals
    1. Monitor, track, and record the quality of the work the vendors perform to ensure that it meets SAGE and Corwin standards
    1. Clearly organize and maintain files and archives
    1. Track and record printed material and digital media workload by updating the monthly dashboard
    1. Process all file conversion/file archive requests
    1. Assist in registering journals with the Library of Congress
    1. Receive, review, and process all design, typesetting, and conversion invoices with the correct General Ledger and International Standard BOOK Number (ISBN)
    1. Distribute, check-in, and enter new books into SMART information management system
    1. Fluent in all project management systems, process workflows, and Excel 
    1. Update Confluence with department and vendor details on a regular basis

    Qualifications & Education

    Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:

     

    • Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access


    • Some experience in the Adobe Creative Suites


    • An understanding of the printing process

     

    • Possess positive attitude, strong work ethic, and professionalism with the ability to accept constructive criticism on ones work

     

    • Possess intuition, maturity, leadership and good judgment
