  • Overview

    The Marketing Manager will develop and drive the implementation of creative marketing and sales strategies for professional learning services and products internationally and domestically. This individual will work closely with marketing, sales, and editorial teams located in various regions of the world to create multi-channel marketing strategies aimed at increasing reach, generating leads, and driving sales.

    Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

    Marketing Planning and Implementation

    • Develop and implement marketing plans for assigned professional learning products and services and international territories
    • Be adept at using and managing a variety of marketing strategies including email campaigns, direct mail, advertising (print and web), social media, PR, and lead generation campaigns
    • Work with international partners to develop and implement co-marketing and sales support initiatives
    • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to launch and promote domestic products and services into international territories, and be able to adjust content to the local context of each assigned territory
    • Administer monthly meetings with counterparts to discuss marketing plans, results, and sales opportunities
    • Be able to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders about marketing initiatives, ideas, and metrics


    Campaign Management

    • Plan, develop, and drive the implementation effective marketing campaigns on schedule and within budget
    • Manage the development of catalogs, emails, landing pages, and other marketing and sales collateral for assigned regions, products, and services
    • Be able to plan the strategy for, develop design concepts for, and manage the production of high-visibility print advertisements
    • Be able to manage the production of content marketing assets, such as white papers, including peer-review, editing, proofreading, and incorporating author feedback
    • Oversee all campaign content, accuracy, and proofing, ensuring it is appropriate for each region
    • Use marketing automation software to grow and maintain the international marketing database and to nurture leads and help guide prospects through the buying journey through multi-wave trigger campaigns
    • Manage in-house lists, research external lists, and develop strategies for increasing international lists
    • Write compelling selling copy and product messaging that supports global business objectives and adheres to established brand guidelines and voice



    • Manage the budget and expenses within your control on an annual and quarterly basis for assigned products, services, and regions
    • Monitor sales of assigned products and adjust marketing efforts and expense spending accordingly


    Sales Enablement and Support

    • Drive sales for assigned products and services through sales enablement activities
    • Plan effective training for sales reps, including development and maintenance of sales tools
    • Create sales materials for sales meetings and provide further support as required


    Conventions and Events

    • Create marketing plans to drive attendance to Corwin events and to follow up with leads
    • Coordinate creation of the schedule of international events and update convention schedule regularly
    • Manage marketing aspects of international conventions, including title selection, marketing collateral, and signage
    • Plan strategies to maximize booth traffic via promotions and advertising


    Market Research and Analysis

    • Continually develop knowledge of the global education and professional learning markets and understand the nuances between various international regions
    • Conduct research to understand which marketing practices and mediums are most effective in each region
    • Stay abreast of competitors and their marketing strategies, popular industry publications, and events
    • Lead market research initiatives, such as surveys and focus groups, to support new product development
    • Analyze marketing response and data in order to make adjustments to strategies


    Qualifications & Education

    • BA/BS degree required
    • 5+ years of educational publishing or K-12 experience required
    • 5+ years of experience in marketing management required
    • Marketing copyediting experience required
    • Email, online marketing, and advertising experience required
    • Professional written and verbal communication skills required
    • Experience effectively implementing campaigns across all of the promotional mixes required
    • Superior planning and organizational skills required
    • International marketing experience is preferred
    • Must be able to use Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
    • Must be highly-motivated and have proven experience managing projects or products
