  • Overview

    The Marketing Associate will help implement marketing plans and programs developed by the Marketing Manager and/or Associate Marketing Director within specified budget and deadlines. The Marketing Associate is responsible for the scheduling, development, and execution of marketing campaigns. The Marketing Associate will also assist with research, website requests, and social media copywriting and scheduling. This job requires excellent organization and planning skills including the ability to prioritize between multiple tasks, a strong proficiency in written and verbal communication, and an aptitude for attention to detail. Strong social media and editorial skills are a plus.

    Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

    The job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Implementation of Marketing Plans

    • Support Marketing Manager in the development and implementation of strategic multi-channel marketing plans as directed in a timely and responsive manner
    • Support Marketing Manager in communication with partners and vendors, scheduling calls, approving material, etc.
    • Conduct market research to identify key associations, publications, ad opportunities, etc. to support marketing planning
    • Complete ad hoc projects as identified by Marketing Manager

    Website and Social Media

    • Act as the liaison between Corwin and the web team, and make sure all requests are completed correctly and on time (pertaining to event)
    • Keep track of anything that needs to be changed on our website (events, products,, logos, etc).
    • Create and update Cvent content
    • Add any requested information to our website such as videos, articles, flyers, etc.
    • Create web pages, content, vanity URLs as needed
    • Manage Corwin’s social media, including content and scheduling, and ensure all intiatives are carried out appropriately
    • Create social media paid ads and review daily
    • Use Hootsuite and Sharepoint to schedule social media campaigns


    Campaign Support

    • Manage campaign development schedule, including ongoing updates to schedule and budget to ensure calendar and budget are accurate
    • Manage production of catalogs, brochures, other marketing collateral, emails, and landing pages
    • Write engaging content for promotions that support business objectives and adhere to established brand guidelines and voice
    • Test campaigns to maximize performance
    • Analyze campaign performance and provide ongoing updates to Marketing Manager
    • Work with Marketing Manager to complete campaign related documentations, such as Campaign Brief and Marketing Materials ID
    • Develop and execute email campaigns, including editing HTML passes in Dreamweaver
    • Work with Graphic Designers, Email Specialist, Marketing Services, and Web Specialist to create effective designs, overseeing accuracy and proofing
    • Audit, correct, and approve proofs during printing process
    • Help write and proofread product copy, such as catalog copy, brochure copy, email copy, and social media copy according to product information provided by Marketing Manager
    • Write compelling, value-driven headlines for catalog, brochure, and layouts
    • Become an expert in the use of In-Copy program and Adobe InDesign style tags, XML, and SharePoint
    • Identify and design online forms using Checkbox, Hubspot, and SureyMonkey to be used as part of marketing communication processes
    • Manage ad hoc marketing collateral including flyers and both print and banner ads


    Customer/Author/Partnership Relations

    • Act as representative of the company when dealing with potential or existing customers and authors
    • When communicating with customers and authors, take appropriate actions to ensure they have a positive experience with, and image of, the company
    • Act as liason with any co-marketing partnerships for Institutes


    Administrative Support

    • Office support as needed

    Conference Attendance

    • Position may require travel to conventions on behalf of Corwin
    • Support planning and execution of marketing tasks for conventions and institutes as needed and as assigned for the Senior Conventions Specialist
    • Conduct effective and professional sales conversations
    • Keep track of Corwin author consultants attending events and notify Marketing Manager
    • Arrange for and produce any display advertising, as necessary
    • Manage media and lead generation forms for events

    Product and Market Knowledge

    • Continually develop product, market, and competitor knowledge through conventions, editorial, author, and customer communication

    Additional Responsibilities

    • This position requires contact with all members of the Senior Management group, home office, offsite employees, outside business professionals and vendors.
    • This position must have a solid working knowledge of the company’s organization, policies, procedures, practices, personnel, and Corwin marketing processes.
    • This position functions with minimal supervision, performs at a high degree of professionalism and maintains utmost confidentiality.


    Qualifications & Education

    Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:


    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Minimum of two years previous experience working in a fast paced, time sensitive, customer oriented, highly confidential environment where there are continually changing priorities
    • Extensive working knowledge within the Microsoft Suite of products to include, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook
    • Experience with InDesign and Dreamweaver preferred
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Superior planning and organizational skills
    • Copy editing, writing, and social media skills
    • Knowledge of creative and printing processes
    • Be able to travel to conferences as needed
    • Knoweldge of K-12 education system
