  • Overview

    The Editorial Intern position provides clerical, post-publication, and publishing support to the editors and associate editors in Corwin’s editorial department. This position will focus on book transmittals, permissions, and author care, but will also include a variety of tasks that touch on many aspects of our production process, including manuscript review and formatting.

     

    This internship is paid, part time (15-25 hours per week during normal office hours). This poisition is for the fall semester with the potential to expand into the spring semester. Candidates MUST be current students able to work out of our office in Thousand Oaks, California (remote work is not permitted).

    Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

    The job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

     

    • Assisting department personnel in supporting various aspects of book/content development, including fact checking and the acquisition of stock photos
    • Assisting department personnel with transmittal related tasks
    • Preparing files for the production process, including the tagging of manuscripts and clearing of electronic rights
    • Posting sample chapters to the Corwin website
    • Checking and posting the Table of Contents to Corwin website
    • Assisting with book orders and sending material to authors, as needed
    • Distributing review assignments and compiling reviewer feedback as directed
    • Troubleshooting companion website issues
    • Filing, scanning, data entry, and other clerical duties

    Qualifications & Education

    Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:

     

    • Must be a current student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
    • Detail oriented and able to see a project through from beginning to end  
    • Professional, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
    • Able to multitask while maintaining attention to detail
    • Prior office experience preferred
