    Sales (US) - Advertising Sales
  • Overview


    Responsible for maximizing revenue for assigned territory, which may include  advertising sales for publications and websites, and conference exhibit and sponsorship sales.  Results will be achieved through heavy telephone-based sales, travel to conferences and tradeshows, and minimal face-to-face meetings. 


    Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

    ·         Advertising sales for select publications
    ·         Advertising sales for select websites
    • Exhibit sales for select conferences
    ·         Selling other assigned projects as necessary
    • Manage and maintain customer database with customer relationship management software
    • Achieve planned target revenue for each publication assigned
    • Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly contact with clients and prospects as measured by standards set by Advertising Sales Manager - currently 30 outgoing calls per day at a minimum
    • Initiate effective sales calls for assigned journals, websites, or special projects such as exhibits using Professional Selling Skills® techniques.
    • Prospect for new advertisers through conferences, competitive publications, and other lead sources
    • Respond to inquiries quickly
    • Provide sales reports and/or call reports as requested
    • Contact clients as necessary to collect outstanding artwork
    • Provide extensions as necessary, within the schedule of the publication
    • Provide necessary specifications to advertisers.
    • Maintain list of advertisers for each issue and provide to advertising coordinators
    • Check issue layouts and proofs as requested
    • Help with collections efforts, if required, by finance department


    Qualifications & Education

    Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:


    • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
    • At least 2 years of sales experience, preferably in advertising and/or association/exhibit sales
    • Experience working from a home office is encouraged
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
    • Strong attention to detail and eye for accuracy
    • Initiative and sense of urgency to satisfy customers and solve problems.
    • Experience working with customer relationship management software
