  • Overview

    This internship will learn about publishing in general and gain hands on experience in an editorial department. This internship is an ideal position for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in publishing.

     

    This internship is paid, part time (20-25 hours per week during normal office hours). This position is anticipated to begin in July and continue through the fall 2019 semester. Candidates MUST be current students able to work out of our office in Thousand Oaks, CA (remote work is not permitted).

    Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

    The job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

     

    • Assist department personnel in completing review projects
    • Support aspects of ancillary development
    • Help recruit and compile review information
    • Conduct market surveys
    • Support editorial assistants by helping process check requests and organize reviewer information
    • Assist in other general tasks such as preparing manuscripts for the production process

    Qualifications & Education

    Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:

     

    • Must be a current student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited college or university. 
    • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Must be a quick learner with ability to problem solve
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work with constant interruptions and multitask
    • Effective internal/external customer communication
    • Ability to meet deadlines and work professionally under pressure
