  • Overview

    The Corporate Communications Intern with will work closely with the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Director, and the Corporate Communications Associate. The Corporate Communications Intern will make important contributions to the work of a major international academic publisher. Through this work an individual will gain a valuable introduction to a career in communications and publishing. 

     

    This internship is paid, part time (15-25 hours per week during normal office hours). Candidates MUST be current students able to work out of our office in Thousand Oaks, California (remote work is not permitted).

    Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

    The job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Assist in the creation and editing of written communications related to public relations including: blog posts, press releases, and slide presentations
    • Conduct research that will help contribute to such communications including research on industry news and events
    • Support internal communications including: maintenance of an internal bank of collateral, an internal news reporting blog, and media tracking and assessment
    • Through regular research, help maintain a database of media, reviewers, influencers, and other stakeholders
    • Support the Corporate Communications Team in growing corporate social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube
    • Other administrative support for the Corporate Communications team as needed

    Qualifications & Education

    Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:

    • Must be a current student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited college or university. Communications, English, or related program of study is preferred.
    • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
    • Must have experience with basic social media tools such as: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Wordpress
    • Experience writing press releases and other public communications is preferred
    • Experience interpreting data and creating graphs is preferred
    • Experience using social media for business (e.g. working knowledge of Hootsuite) is preferred
    • Knowledge of AP style of writing is preferred
    • Experience using multimedia production and design packages (e.g. canva) is preferred
