  • Overview

    The Senior Video Producer leads the team of producers to craft innovative and pedagogically appropriate videos for SAGE and Corwin, whether for products or internal use. The Senior Video Producer focuses on the larger video strategy in the business, skillfully collaborating with colleagues, authors, and guests to make engaging and cost-effective videos, and training producers and other departments in creative storytelling.

    Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

    The job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Oversee all video and audio projects handled by the Producer team, ensuring that all projects are completed according to schedule, within budget, and to agreed-to quality standards
    • Participate in developing video projects from inception to completion for all departments at SAGE, working closely with editorial and marketing teams to meet their video and audio needs
    • Oversee in-house and local film shoots and interviews as assigned
    • Work with Legal, the Digital Asset Curator, and other departments to ensure that all projects follow proper legal processes, including permission forms, copyright issues, and licensing agreements
    • Represent Global Video Production in cross-departmental meetings, proactively reaching out to departments and instructional designers to help define the vision and direction for their video needs
    • Attend, participate in, and contribute to, and/or lead one-on-one, team, and department meetings

    Supervisory duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Lead team meetings and one-on-ones, using them as opportunities to develop the team
    • Identify training opportunities for Producers, including field and studio shoots
    • Identify resource needs, communicating these needs to the Managing Editor
    • Create and update training systems and documentation for the Producer team
    • Oversee the assignment of projects to Producers
    • Oversee the maintenance of positive relationships with business stakeholders by the producers
    • Participate in screening, evaluation, and selection of new employees
    • Train in the appropriate workflows, systems, and basic job functions
    • Write and administer salary and performance reviews
    • Assist in the annual department budget setting
    • Monitor the production spend by Producers
    • Meet all productivity and quality standards of the Producer position

    Complete other various tasks within the Global Video Production Department as required

    Qualifications & Education

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in film, journalism, or an equivalent area of study
    • Ten or more years of video production experience
    • Proven experience as a field producer in a variety of settings
    • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft skills
    • Experience in creating videos for higher education is a benefit
    • Previous supervisory experience preferred
    • A general understanding of task management, including the ability to prioritize numerous simultaneous projects
    • Effective listening, verbal, and written communication skills
