Overview

The Senior Marketing Communications Manager will produce accurate email campaigns to deadline, and effectively manage and support line reports to achieve their objectives. Play an active role in the development and implementation of email best practices, team processes and protocols, and marcomm strategies within the team. Lead and contribute to projects and initiatives in support of open access department goals.

 

Direct management experience is required - as well as experience with creating end to end email campaigns.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement complex email campaignsto drive submissions, usage, and awareness to open access journals.
  • Manage all aspects of email campaigns, including scheduling, copywriting, data selection, editing, proofreading, deploying,and analysis.
  • Build email campaigns in Dreamweaver using existing HTML template library.
  • Recommend campaign testing strategies and ensure the execution and analysis oftests to inform improvements to marketing activities.
  • Proactively make recommendations to inform future team strategies.
  • Play an active role in building the profile of the team within the wider business.
  • Lead on initiatives, programs and projects that have a business level impact and contribute to achieving the overall objectives of the team.
  • Manage direct reports, encompassing recruitment and selection, performance development and performance management and ensure performance support goals and strategic objectives.
  • Build positive relationships with key internal stakeholders across different teams in the organization.

Qualifications & Education

  • Significent experience of planning, implementing and measuring email campaigns.
  • Knowledge of HTML and experience managing complex email campaigns.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and good presentation skills.
  • A high level of accuracy and keen attention to detail, especially regarding proofreading.
  • Strong organisational skills for managing multiple projects, deadlines, and expectations.
  • Ability to influence and gain buy-in for new initiatives or proposals.
  • Solutions-focused approach and demonstrated creativity in problem solving.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret results to make recommendations.
  • Experience coaching and developing direct reports to build competence and skills.
