Overview

SAGE Publishing has an exciting internship opportunity to work in a marketing department and help market to current and prospective authors. The Author Marketing department is vital to supporting authors by delivering resources to demystify the publication process and educating authors in publishing skills and processes.

 

This internship is a paid, part-time (15-25 hours per week Monday-Friday) position for the summer of 2023 with the possibility of extending into the fall semester based on performance and continued interest. Interns may work remotely or from one of our two main offices in Washington, DC, or Thousand Oaks, CA.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

The job functions include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Utilize various marketing systems
  • Produce or update marketing pieces
  • Coordinate resource creation across teams
  • Conduct market research or competitive analysis
  • Assist staff in the implementation of marketing campaigns and make suggestions for improvement
  • Complete research and write content for existing social media accounts
  • Help with reporting to track Return On Investment
  • Proofread materials to ensure accuracy and maintain quality standards

Qualifications & Education

Candidates should also possess a combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following: 

 

Required

  • Must be a current student working toward the completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited college or university, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Business and/or related course of study 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel
  • Excellent organization and time management, with the ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be a quick learner
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with other team members on a regular basis

Preferred 

  • Experience conducting online research
  • Social media experience

Compensation at SAGE is influenced by several factors, including but not limited to skill set, nature and level of experience, qualifications, and other relevant considerations. The part-time hourly amount for this position is $16.00. If your desired salary falls outside of this range, we hope you'll still apply as there may be other positions that better align.
