Overview

The Development Manager, North America will report to the Director of Development, North America for Technology from Sage. You will lead and implement a growth strategy for our library business and partnerships in territories and customer segments assigned to you, in an exciting business development and library partnerships role for a growth business.

 

You will be an essential part of the Technology from Sage sales team in North America, working with colleagues based in the US, the UK and the Netherlands. Your role brings together sales responsibilities across three previously separate businesses (Talis, Lean Library and Sciwheel). You will also be collaborating closely with a number of sales colleagues in the wider Sage business. This will give you access to best-in-class practices and tools, but more importantly to excellent experience and advice as you take our sales growth forward.

 

This is a remote position with opportunities to travel up to 30% on average throughout the year.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Drive new library business to meet growth targets and deliver excellent relationships with library partners.
  • Deliver best-practice account management to library customers.
  • Accurately maintain monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts for assigned territories
  • Collate, analyse and communicate useful statistical information relating to the sale of Technology from Sage products via Customer Relationship Management.
  • Collaborate with marketing on successful campaigns to drive library business and patron engagement.
  • Possess and develop in-depth knowledge of the Technology from Sage products and services offering, in addition to those of our competitors and other relevant library service providers.
  • Identify and validate new library product and service opportunities for libraries and providing valuable feedback to the product and customer success units.
  • Work strategically and tactically with colleagues to look for shared opportunities, across similar organization types, affinity groups, and consortia. This includes cross-selling and upselling with internal colleagues or leveraging their relationships with customers to help drive business.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with diverse colleagues (sales, marketing, product) in Technology from SAGE and the wider Sage business to ensure high levels of engagement and feedback from these internal colleagues across business units.
  • Establish and track clear ROI and KPI criteria and assess performance against these responsibilities, including pipeline management

Qualifications & Education

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Sales experience in higher ed
  • Strong consultative sales experience within a SaaS context
  • Excellent negotiation skills, with a proven ability to grow business and hit significant targets
  • Excellent advocacy skills: oral, written, and with the ability to present and build strong external relationships
  • Highly knowledgeable about the library market, and trends in higher education, and about the library’s contribution to learning and research
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to set priorities and be flexible in a changing environment
  • Demonstrated influencing, communication, and negotiation skills across teams (both core and matrix) and with all levels of management

Compensation at SAGE is influenced by several factors, including but not limited to skill set, nature and level of experience, qualifications, and other relevant considerations. We anticipate the minimum full-time salary range for this position to be between $76,000 to $96,000. Please note that the compensation details listed in U.S. role postings reflect the base salary only and do not include bonuses or benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range and additional aspects of the compensation/benefits package for this position during the hiring process.
